SWE NJ hosted Middle School's Career Day at Leonia Middle School. Our volunteers helped plan and host two 45 minute sessions for middle school girls and their parents. We discussed what it means to be an engineer, ran a short activity, and opened the floor for Q&A.

Generations in the Work Place

Understanding the differences between and perceptions of various generations can be tricky. Our Professional Development Committee hosted this presentation on transfer of knowledge and how to interact with members of all generations within the workplace. The event was held at AECOM (30 Knightsbridge Road, Suite 520, Piscataway, NJ 08854) for a cost of $5/person. Light refreshments and food were included!

NJ SWE had one 50 minute session at 10am for "Intro to Engineering". The event was held at the East Brunswick Service Center (108 Church Lane, East Brunswick NJ).

Bowling Night with SWE Rowan

The Collegiate Relations Committee organized this casual mixer for our professional members to meet the Rowan University SWE Collegiate section. SWE NJ also had the opportunity to network with SWE members from the Philadelphia professional section. The event was held at the Glassboro Bowl & Recreation Center (503 N. Delsea Dr., Glassboro, NJ 08028) and only cost $1/game, $1/shoes, $1 draft/soda.

Paint Night

What a fun social activity! We had so much fun learning to paint, sharing a bottle of wine, and munching on pizza at Sabrina's Art Studio (143 Morris Street, Morristown, NJ 07960). Tickets were $32/person.

An Evening of Engineering for Girls

In honor of National Engineers week and National "Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day", Bayonne High School and NJ Society of Women Engineers presented "An Evening of Engineering Girls". The event featured a light dinner, guest speakers, hands-on activities and demos. Girls in grades 7-12 and parents were invited!

The Collegiate Relations Committee invited our professional members to paint pottery with Stevens University and New Jersey Institute of Technology SWE collegiate section. This was a very well attended event at the Crop-Shop in Hoboken, NJ. The cost was $10/person + $4-25 for pottery item (depending on size)

This was an event coordinated by the Collegiate Relations Committee and hosted on the Rutgers Campus (Busch Campus Center, 604 Bartholomew Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854).

SWE NJ's Annual Holiday Party was held at Millie's Old World Meatballs and Pizza in Morristown, NJ. We had such a blast wearing our favorite ugly sweaters to compete for a prize. SWE NJ also collected non perishable food items for a donation to a local food bank. Your generosity was much appreciated. We already can't wait for next year! Tickets were $30 for Professionals and $15 for Students.

This was a great chance to learn about becoming a member of NJ SWE, becoming more involved and learning about upcoming events. We reconnect with our colleagues and networked with new members. Door prizes and speed networking were especially fun. This event was held at Camillo's Restaurant (31 MacArthur Avenue Sayreville, NJ 08872) and appetizers were provided.
