2009 Saturday, January 17, 2009 We need 4 volunteers to host a booth at the Future City
Competition Day. This competition is for middle school students and their
projects will be judged on Jan. 17th. In addition to the judging, they are
setting up booths for various organizations to come in and hand out brochures
and talk about engineering. As they rotate through, you can talk about SWE and
engineering opportunities. The day will start around 10:00AM and run through
4:00PM. We would like to get 2 groups to cover 3 hours each (10-1 and 1-4). We
really need your help with this event so if you could spare a few hours of your

2009 SWE-NJ MAY BRUNCH Thursday, May 21, 2009 VOLUNTEER NEEDED FOR ENGINEERING PRESENTATION SWE-NJ has been asked to take part in a summer engineering program
for high school girls at the Middlesex County College Campus. We are scheduled
to give a 20 to 30 minute presentation during the program's orientation on May
21st. One suggested topic is careers for women in engineering. Let us know if
you can help out with this presentation. We need one volunteer ASAP! Please

JOINT HOLIDAY PARTY WITH SWE
NY!!
The event will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009
at 1:00 pm at Kellari, conveniently located between Grand Central and Times
Square in New York City. We hope you can join us for a family style,
three-course, prix-fixe meal with fellow SWE members. This is also a
family-friendly event, with significant others welcome.
SWE NY is subsidizing
the event for all who attend with a three-tiered price system as follows:
$35
for non SWE-NY members
$30 for SWE-NY members and guests
$25 for
students
This party is a great opportunity for members of your section to
meet other engineering professionals, or simply become reacquainted with
one another!

INDOOR ROCK CLIMBING
It's indoor rock climbing time
again! Everyone had a great time last year. It's only $20 a person for 3
hours of climbing including a harness, lesson, and pizza. Family and friends are

Union
County Magnet High School is hosting a career day for their students in late
April. We need a volunteer to speak at the school during the morning session.
The presenter would speak with groups of students at 5 different times in
25 minute sessions. Please let Leslie know if you can help
